DON'T!
AOL has inherent problems with Blackboard's operation and displaying content correctly. These problems include connection difficulties, correct content text size, accurate display of certain graphic files, file download problems, pop-up windows, e-mail send/receive problems, and disconnection. The AOL browser is neither recommended nor supported by Blackboard or the Distance Learning staff.
AOL has a 10 minute inactivity timer and taking a test in Blackboard is not seen as Internet activity. To avoid being timed out by AOL we recommend you listen to Internet radio (at a low volume) while taking the test. The streaming audio from Internet radio is seen as activity.
Our recommendation is to minimize your AOL window
and
open a stand-alone browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape. Other
browsers such as Firefox and Mozilla will also work; however, the Distance
Learning staff do not support them. In other words, we cannot answer
technical questions regarding their use with Blackboard.
You should install the most recent version of the browser along with any and all updates. Connect to the Internet in the usual manner using AOL, minimize the AOL browser and open your browser of choice. Use this browser to access your Blackboard course site.
